The ISOPE, the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers, is a non-profit scientific and educational organization. The Society membership is open equally to all with active interest in promoting engineering and scientific progress in the fields of interdisciplinary offshore, ocean and polar engineering.
There is a strong emphasis in research areas related to engineering technology applied to the petrochemical and ship building industry, however, with the recent global climate change focus on the Renewable Energy & Environment specific symposia has been given more attention.

The title of the paper was ‘Applicability of a Toroidal Hull Structure for Floating Wind’.
The motivation of the research and the paper is to develop a new structural platform design for renewable wind and wave energy. While the offshore wind industry is moving towards new designs for floating wind, Pacifico aims to demonstrate the novel concept of a toroidal (circular) hull applied to floating wind turbines in order to promote innovative thinking using the ‘hybrid’ design methodology, that is, combining known knowledge to create something new.
On behalf of Pacifico Energy, Kurt Delpeche is now a member of the Technical Committee in the Renewable Energy & Environment Symposia of the ISOPE. He has initiated a new sub-topic session called ‘Application for Industry’: the intention is to link academia research to industry specific issues for offshore wind.
